EU funds new Tanzania Project worth 3.75million Euros

Congratulation Vi Agroforestry Tanzania! for securing the newly signed European Union/Tanzania Ministry of Finance and Planning contract!

“Support to the Development of the Coffee, Tea and Horticulture Sectors in Tanzania”, is a four-year Smallholder Coffee Development Project which aims to contribute to inclusive and sustainable development of the coffee value chain for enhanced incomes and improved nutrition status of smallholder farmers in the Tanzania Southern Highlands.

The project which is worth SEK 40 million (3.75million Euros) is structured around three specific intervention areas a) increased climate-resilient production and productivity of quality coffee through equitable and efficient resource allocations b) increased incomes from improved postharvest, processing capacities and market linkages and financial services linkages c) enhanced competitiveness of coffee value chain with supportive policy and regulatory framework. The project will work with 24,000 smallholder farmers, comprising of 14,400 young women farmers (60%) and 9,600 young men farmers (40%) between the age of 18-35 years. The project will be implemented in close collaboration with our co-applicants; Tanzania Coffee Research Institute, BRAC, Café Africa and ANSAF.

The project also comes with many other benefits, like the strengthening of a big and nationwide network of civil society, private and government stakeholders, increased visibility and extended geographical coverage into the Tanzania Southern Highland.
