Vi Agroforestry advocacy campaign is from local to national and international level, with all levels complementing each other

The vision for the advocacy 2018-2030 is to End Poverty & Combat Climate Change.   The overarching advocacy goal is that National Agroforestry policies have been developed, adopted and implemented in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Rwanda for resilience and climate change adaptation and mitigation, and improved livelihood for women, men, children and youth, by 2030.

Vi Agroforestry believes that for advocacy to be effective, it must have direct links with right- holders and partners, allowing for experience sharing and joint action and giving rights holders opportunities to make their voices heard in forums they might not previously have had access to, and be carried out by those affected by the issue, or their representatives.

Vi Agroforestry, together with partners, other CSO’s and stakeholders play an effective role in influencing the End Poverty and Combat Climate Change agenda, and in ensuring that the rights of the small-holder farmers and their families are fulfilled. Also, to Vi Agroforestry, advocacy aim to, directly and indirectly, influence decision-makers and other stakeholders to support and implement actions that contribute to the fulfilment of human rights, inclusive policy frameworks and the SDGs.

The advocacy supports Vi Agroforestry’s focus on five Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):

The advocacy also supports Vi Agroforestry’s future statement:

By 2021, Vi Agroforestry will be the partner of choice in agroforestry and sustainable agriculture, providing strong links between research and results. Vi Agroforestry will be a uniting factor in policy development on forestry, agroforestry and sustainable agriculture in the countries in which it operates in Sub-Saharan Africa. Vi Agroforestry will be a strong force in Sweden in setting the agenda for development work in the agriculture sector and climate change issues.
